Izmir’s Urla region (Klazomenai in ancient age) was an important center of the ancient olive oil production and trade. The oldest olive oil processing unit of the 6 th century B.C. was discovered during the excavations. Komili Olive Oil, which has been Turkey’s leading Olive Oil Company since 1878, considered that this project was in line with their products and that there were very few researches performed in Anatolia about the olive oil culture and decided to support this project. As a result, the company decided to support the excavations to be carried out in Klazomenai.
"Klazomenai Olive Oil Processing Unit" Project attracted the attention of people who are interested in olive oil as well as the world of archaeology. This project was also appreciated and supported by the Ministry of Culture.
Project lasted 8 years and at the end greenactive was honored by the Oscar of PR; The Silver Anvil by PRSA and IPRA’s Golden World Award.
